Wow! So sorry to learn of Andy Griffin's death this winter. May he rest in peace. Andy and I were friends from ETHs where we circulated in a loose group of friends over the years. Andy's family of intellectuals resided in a once grand house built after Covil War near Northwestern where his dad was a renown Rhetoric Professor for many decades. We worked together on the Evanstonian. What a world of the mind he and his academic family opened to my parochial upbringing. We lost touch some years into our respective college careers. At this time, I wish his family that his memory always be a source of blessing and comfort.
Phil, thanks for letting us know. It's very sad to hear of Andy passing. I met him freshman year in South - I think that we had several classes together, and he was part of a group that all lunched together in the South cafeteria. I recall hanging out with him, Dave Rosenbaum, and a bunch of the other South kids - maybe playing Diplomacy? I remember Andy being a nice kid, very funny - good memories. May his memory be for a blessing.
