Nancy Susan Harris was born on December 9, 1955, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, to Brady Harris

Sr. and Elizabeth Greenup Harris. At the age of three, Nancy and her family moved back to

Evanston, Illinois, where she spent her formative years. She attended Evanston public schools

and graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1973.

In 1975, Nancy relocated to Dallas, Texas, where she made her home for the remainder of her

life. She attended Bishop College and began a meaningful career as an engraver, specializing

in personalized messages, monograms, and decorative themes.

Nancy’s true calling was teaching. She spent much of her career working with young

children—a role she cherished deeply. She had a gift for connecting with preschoolers and was

especially known for her imaginative and heartfelt Easter and Christmas programs, which often

featured beautiful singing, handmade props, and costumes she created with love.

Even in the face of personal challenges, Nancy remained a source of strength, encouragement,

and support to others. Her unwavering devotion to her faith, her family, and those she loved was

evident in everything she did.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Brady and Elizabeth Harris; her brother, Brady

Harris Jr.; and her sister, Patricia (Patty) Harris. She is survived by her sister, Cynthia Harris

Howard; her brother, Otis Blanton; her nieces, Bria Harris, Sicley Harris, Aliya Howard, Najah

Howard, Nadiyah Howard, and Sarah Howard; and her nephews, Ramzee Howard and John

Howard. She is also survived by her aunt, Ruth Walker (California), and her aunt and uncle, Don

and Helen Rice (Arizona); and her cousins Leslie, Jackie, Scott, Jason, and Dawn, who were

like siblings to Nancy.

Nancy also leaves behind a host of family and friends, including Jenny Caine and Sharon Sims

of Dallas, Texas, who were with her until the end.

Nancy will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, creativity, and deep love for others. She

truly lived by the principle of putting others before herself
