Eric passed before he was 30, I believe, right when he had completed his medical training at NU. It was thyroid cancer, I heard. I was always impressed with his intelligence, focus and discipline. He also had a wicked sense of humor, a deep raspy laugh.
Eric was the first person I met after we moved to Evanston (at Lincolnwood summer school in 1966) and was my best friend when we were at Haven together. We drifted apart somewhat at ETHS and even more after high school, but we got together sporadically even close to his tragically early passing. Eric did have a wicked sense of humor, and was always trying to get me into trouble. He loved to embarrass his rather prudish friend, but he was always there for me, especially in those socially difficult junior high years. It's good that we're remembering him.
