John and I became friends at Haven. We shared a love of Frazetta's art, which he could mimic even in middle school. He was extremely meticulous in his art and capable in business. The more I got to know him, the more my respect grew. He was also a friend - I sat with him often freshman year in Michael's cafeteria and we talked about our dreams. May he rest in peace.

I met John at Haven Jr. High and also had a class (World History of Civilization III) Freshman year at ETHS. He was a remarkable artist. At Haven he made a sketch for me of two eagles scowling at each other (I think as an art project for him). I then gave them to another friend (Brian Siebel) who used them as a heading for note pads for me, as a printing project for him.

John sat directly behind me in that largish history class (team taught by the Finleys) and spent a good deal of the sessions sketching superheroes. His depictions of their muscularity was remarkable. Easily as good as anything one sees in comic books.

I always liked him, and it sounds as though he lived a very full life.
